GDPR & Data Protection Forum In-Person

This is a Forum that is open to all staff who are interested in GDPR/data protection issues and how it affects our work at MDX.

A very brief overview will be provided of the relevant new data protection legislation that has come into force in 2018 for anyone who is unfamiliar or would like a quick refresh.

The bulk of the session will however be focused on data breaches, specifcally things that other organisations have got wrong that has resulted in recent regulatory action by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). It will outline the mistakes that were made by these organisations and how we can learn the lessons to improve how we all comply with the principles of the legislation. This is particularly timely as the first UK University was hit with a 120K fine by the ICO in May of this year.

There will also be time for a discussion at the end if you have any burning questions about the GDPR or a practical query you would like some advice on.
