Tweeting to meet learning objectives In-Person

In this session Dr. Josie Barnard will demonstrate how Twitter can be used in the classroom to help students meet validated learning outcomes and enhance students’ employability in ways that can be measured.

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) gives employability centrality. The ability to apply and exploit information technology is a core employability competence. This session presents a toolkit of tried and tested exercises utilising Twitter.  Developed via pilots conducted with BA and MA Creative Writing and Journalism students 2012-present, the aim is that all the exercises are simple to execute.  As well as providing a step-through of how to action the exercises (including pitfalls to watch out for), the session includes a live demo element. Though emerging from the field of Creative Writing, the exercises are intended for use more widely across disciplines.  The aim of the session is to equip and inspire.
