Short Course in Learning and Teaching and Assessment In-Person

Short Course in Learning, Teaching and Assessment 2019-20
Day 2 of 2

The Short Course in Learning, Teaching and Assessment is facilitated by the Centre for Learning and Teaching Enhancement (CAPE). The course is intended to support doctoral students who are interested in preparing to teach at Middlesex University, and has been designed to accommodate participants either new to teaching or with prior teaching experience.

The aim of the course is to familiarise participants with all aspects of teaching practice in a Higher Education (HE) environment. To this end the course has been developed to introduce participants to a range of teaching techniques and the various contexts within which these can be implemented.

The following topics will be covered over the one-and-a-half-day workshop:

  • Learning Theories

  • Techniques in Learning and Teaching

  • Assessment and Feedback

  • Evaluation of Learning and Teaching

  • Planning Learning and Teaching

Participants will have the opportunity to receive a certificate of completion by meeting the following criteria:

  • Attendance of all sessions within the short course

  • Observation of two teaching sessions after attending the course, and the completion and submission of a teaching observation form detailing your reflections on this process

N.B. Each course runs over 2 days. You must sign up for both days of the course to be eligible to attend (mixing of runs is not permitted). Please use your MDX university email address when completing the booking page.
