Zoom Migration Drop-in Online
Many colleagues will by now be aware that due to financial restraints, the University has taken a tough decision to not renew our Zoom license going forward. This means that from June 2025, Zoom will no longer be available. We will instead be transitioning to Teams and Kaltura Classroom (NewRow) as our new online teaching platforms – they both function similarly and so therefore usage will be mostly down to preference.
We suggest that colleagues start downloading any content which they have saved on the Zoom Cloud to avoid losing these when our license runs out in June. We would also like to use this opportunity to remind colleagues to be mindful of how old the content is as it is vital that any content used is current, relevant and of value to students – a caveat to this may be if you have media content (e.g. guest lecturers or case studies) that still have a lot of value despite their age.
This drop-in is for colleagues who may have any questions or require support with migrating their content over to MS Teams, Kaltura or NewRow.
Staff development are also running a variety of sessions around Microsoft Teams to help staff become more familiar with using Microsoft Teams (including a workshop specifically supporting the use of Teams for Teaching and Training). You can find out more about their upcoming sessions here – Microsoft Teams Staff Development Sessions or alternatively have a look at the following - Microsoft 365 Training Guide.
For further information or support, please feel free to contact the Staff Development Team or E-Learning.
