Resilience: Taming the Inner Critic Online
Resilience is not a fixed quantity; it is a resource that we are able to cultivate and bolster
as individuals. However, this process is often undermined by the ‘Inner-Critic’, our
internal monologue of thought, judgement and analysis that can draw us into patterns of
perfectionism and self-criticism.
In this 60 minute session, we explore how we recognise our inner critic, discern when our
judgements are useful and when they are counter-productive and develop practices and
techniques that help us be more supportive of ourselves when we face challenge.
By learning to respond with more nuance and compassion, we can cultivate a more robust
sense of self-worth and resilience. The session looks at:
-What is the Inner Critic?
-Why we criticise ourselves (an evolutionary perspective)
-The impact of the inner critic on performance and mental and physical wellbeing
-Taming the Inner Critic
Developing Resilience and Self Worth through Compassion
-Mindset Shifts for Perfectionism
-Grounding Techniques: Resilience in the face of fear
