How to conduct effective Performance Development Reviews as Managers Online
Session Overview
This training will provide managers and team leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to confidently conduct performance development review meetings, set meaningful objectives with their teams, and make effective use of the PDR (Clear Review) system. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to hold constructive, motivating conversations that support individual growth and performance, aligned with organisational goals and priorities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Prepare and conduct effective PDR conversations that balance recognition, constructive feedback, and future development planning.
- Set clear, measurable, and motivating objectives in collaboration with staff, ensuring they are aligned with team and organisational priorities.
- Use the PDR (Clear Review) system effectively to record discussions, track progress, and follow up on objectives and development actions.
- Apply best practices for communication during reviews, including active listening, asking open questions, and providing feedback that supports staff engagement and performance.
- Plan follow-up actions to ensure reviews are not just one-off conversations, but part of an ongoing performance and development cycle.
